The Lesser Connecting Medd مَد الصِّلة الصُغرَى
It is a Madd that comes from the vowel on a  هاء الضمير(pronoun or possessive pronoun ـه) which meets the following conditions:
A  ـهon the end of a word (last letter) that is not part of the original make-up of the word, representing the singular third person male.  It is voweled either with a Dhammah or a Kasrah, positioned between two voweled letters, the reader is not stopping on it, and it is not followed by a Hamzah.  When all these requirements are met the Dhammah on the ـه  (if there is one) becomes lengthened into a

Sakt  سَكْت
The breathless pause

Its applied definition: Cutting off the sound for a time less than the time of a stop, without breathing, with intention of returning to the recitation immediately.
Places that   حَفْص عَن عَاصِم   مِن طَرِيق  الشَّاطِبِّيَّة    has a سكت
There are four places where the Sakt is required (waajib) for the reader reciting the Qur'an by the way of Hafs 'an 'Aasim min Tareeq Ash-Shatibiyyah to do all of these  سكت as long as he/she is reading the two words that have a سكت in between them in continuum.  If the reader stops between the two words (which is allowed in al-Kahf and Ya seen), then the  سكتwould not be employed, since it is now a stop.

There are 3 Exceptions to the rule of إِدْغَام (merging)

1-     The first exception : The Idghaam of the Noon Saakinah and Tanween can only occur between two words.  If there is a Noon Saakinah in the middle of a word followed by one of the Idghaam letters, there is no merging, instead the Noon is pronounced clearly with Ith-har
This is called: (absolute clearness) إِظْهَار مُطْلَق
  In the Glorious Qur’an this only occurs with the Noon Saakinah followed by a Yaaي  or a Waw  و and in only four words.

1.      A complete merging ادغام كامل

Which means Merging the Noon completely

Noon Saakinah and Tanween
Noon saakinah is a noon  نfree from any vowel حركة.  It remains unchanged in its written form and as well as in pronunciation when continuing to read after it and when stopping on it. Noon saakinah occurs in nouns and verbs in the middle of the word and at the end of the word, and occurs in prepositions and particles only at the end of the word.

The Secondary Madd 
الْمَد الْفَرْعى
Its definition: It is a lengthening that has a longer timing  than that of the natural Madd (الْمَد الطَّبِيعِي ) due to a  Hamzah or a Sukoon, 
Its indications: The occurrence of a Hamzah before or after a Madd letter, or a Sukoon after it, regardless if the Sukoon is permanent (when continuing and when stopping), or if the Sukoon is a presented one.

The را has 8 cases in which it has Tafkheem, 4 cases in which it has Tarqeeq, and 2 cases that allow either Tafkheem or Tarqeeq.

The Eight cases in which the را has Tafkheem:
1.  If it has a Fat-hah, such as in  رَمَضَانَ
2.  If it is Saakinah and before the را is a letter with a Fat-ha, as in: مَـرْيَمَ

3.  If it is Saakinah and the letter before it has a Sukoon, and the letter before that has a fat-h, as when stopping on the word:وَﭐلْعَصْر

Lesson 16:     The Lahn  لَحْن  or Mistakes in Qur’an reading

The study of tajweed is important because it protects the reciter from “lahn” (mistakes) in the recitation.
These mistakes are divided into two categories,
These categories are “lahn jali’ ” and “lahn khafi’ “.
1.     “Lahn Jali’ “لحن جلي : This is the mistake that is so obvious, or “big” that both a novice in Tajweed and the expert in it can identify it. This category of mistake in the recitation is “haram” (forbidden) to commit as it may completely change the meaning of the verse(s) being recited.

What is Shaddah !

In Arabic, Shadda is equivalent to write the same letter twice. The first letter would has Skoon and the second letter would has Fat-ha, Dhamma or Kasra.
For example;
The word دَرَّسَ is actually دَرْرَسَ but instead of writing ر Ra twice we replace it with one ر Ra with Shadda on it.

In this lesson we will read and learn letters with Tanween
The tanween is an "n" sound added to the end of the word in certain circumstances, usually it functions just like the "a" and "an" in English, indicating an indefinite article. The word tanween, literally means marginalize/pushing aside;[1] But usually translated as "nunation", "to 'n'", or "'n'ing"; making an "n" sound.
