الإدغام Idghaam

الإدغام Idghaam

The linguistic definition :

Idghaam means: -
“ mixing”,"merging","insertion" or to “put one thing into another”.

It is the mixing or enteringof a Saakin letter(a non-voweled letter) into a Mutaharrik letter(voweled letter) following it,
so that they became a single Mushaddad letter,
or the two letters become one emphasized letter of the second type.

Idghaam Letters:-There are six letters of Idghaam which are collected in the word :

يـر مـلـو ن
Types of Idghaam:
The Idghaam further divides into two groups:

1- Idghaam with Ghunnah

- The Letters of Idghaam with Ghunnah: -

 "ي , ن  , م , و   " OR "يـنـمـو"

If the Noon Saakina or  Tanween is followed by any of these four letters,
the reader should make Idghaam with Ghunnah
for 2 beats.
- The way of pronunciation:-

Skip the Noon or Tanween and Pronounce Ghunna with the following letter for 2 beats

2- Idghaam without Ghunnah

- The Letters of Idghaam without Ghunnah: - "
 " ر" ل"
If the Noon Saakina or  Tanween is followed by any of these two letters,
there is no Ghunnah while making the Idghaam.

- The way of pronunciation:-

Skip the Noon or Tanween and Pronounce ل or ر without Ghunna

Note: the Noon Saakina or the Tanween and the Idgham letter have to be intwo different words,
otherwise the reader is not Supposed to do Idghaam.
In this case it will be Izhaar Motlaq إظهار مطلق
and this case can be found only
in 4 words in Quran :

صِنْوان , دُنْيا , قِنْوَان , بُنْيَان
